Syntrichia cavallii (Negri) Ochyra. A new moss specie from Southwest Nigeria.

Syntrichia cavallii is described and illustrated as a new specie from Idanre hills Ondo State southwest Nigeria. It is an acrocarpous moss, plants green to reddish-brown. Stem is 3cm long, simple or little branched. It grows in dense tufts on ground on soil-capped rock surfaces. It is characterized mainly by margin recurved nerve strong usually excurrent with short or long hyaline hair point .Mid-leaf cells hexagonal to subquadrate. Basal cells rectangular, seta long reddish to yellow, capsule cylindrical.
